Iron and steel ready for the EU Green Deal

Steelmaking alone contributes to 7% of global emissions – successfully transitioning these hard-to-abate value-chains to decarbonised production methods is a key challenge for delivering the European Green Deal and climate neutrality.
This webinar organised by LKAB aims to discuss how sustainable frontrunners in the iron and steel sector are innovating to deliver the EU’s ambitious 2030 and 2050 climate goals, and what EU policy can do to support them.
This webinar will present LKAB’s new ambitious, market-leading strategy that sets out its pathway to achieve zero carbon emissions of its processes and products by 2045, cut 35 million tons of greenhouse gases across the iron and steel value chains – equivalent to two third of Sweden’s domestic emissions – and create thousands of jobs. This will form the basis of a discussion with high-level policymakers and stakeholders ahead of the crucial 10-11 December European Council.
