Rutger (Rudi) joined Fipra as Special Adviser for Life Sciences (pharma, medtech, biotech) in 2018.

Over the past 25 years, Rudi gained considerable experience as a senior adviser serving blue-chip and entrepreneurial firms in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, and as a senior executive responsible for international business management and for government affairs at GSK and Novartis. Rudi has been elected chairperson of international trade association committees in both Geneva (IFPMA) and Brussels (EFPIA), and represented the R&D-based industry with the World Health Organization, World Bank, European Commission and G20 Governments. He has spearheaded a number of public private partnerships, and was instrumental in the development and implementation of innovative financing mechanisms. Rudi provides strategic counsel to corporations on government policy and regulation, competition and antitrust, commerce and transactions, and intellectual property with a focus on life sciences and high-tech industries. His expertise comprises market access, pricing and reimbursement. Rudi received his PhD in Economics from Maastricht University, Netherlands and holds degrees in competition law, corporate finance and in science. He is an alumnus of Wharton’s Advanced Management Program, USA, has authored numerous articles about issues at the nexus of business strategy and public policy, and is a Research Fellow at the Institute for European Studies of Brussels University and Honorary Research Fellow at Maastricht School of Management. He speaks Dutch, English, and French.
