Jenni Newman joined FIPRA in 2013 when she was appointed to handle the launch of Uber in South Africa, first for government relations/ public affairs, and then for ongoing communications. The Uber network now covers all major cities in South Africa and has expanded into Africa.
Jenni has built up and sold three successful communications companies, and was for many years the South African affiliate of the giant Leo Burnett Group (later Publicis). She has sold the company but continues to consult.
Jenni has worked with many global brands, handling communications, public affairs and government relations, consulted to companies on listings on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange (a telecoms company). She has worked with many global pharma companies on regulatory issues, registration and launches of new drugs in South Africa. Her particular fields of expertise include travel and tourism, health, consumer and retail, corporate and financial. She is a judge in the South African Naledi Theatre awards, a trustee of the Johannesburg Ballet and has a great interest in the arts.
Jenni has lectured on communications and for many years, had a regular radio programme covering the arts. Jenni has a BA degree in psychology and classics from the University of the Witwatersrand and a post graduate business diploma from the University of Cape Town. She was involved in publishing for many years. She studied overseas at the Alliance Francaise and the Dante Alighieri Society. She speaks English, French, Afrikaans and some Italian.
