In June 2019, the Council of the EU adopted new rules to extend the scope of the Public Sector Information Directive, which aims at increasing the availability of public data and unlocking the potential of the data economy.

The debate on 25 September 2019 provided a comprehensive understanding of the related regulatory and technical challenges and identify the areas where the use and re-use of public services data can bring economic and social prosperity.
