On March 17th, Fipra’s Clara Rosales spoke with UK Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) Senior Director for Antitrust, Ann Pope about how the agency is preparing for Brexit.

Ann anticipated that the CMA will be dealing with around 30 to 50 additional Phase 1 mergers each year with around 6 of those cases leading to an in-depth investigation. Speaking about a competition enforcement post-Brexit, Ann said that the UK will start to “diverge in some markets and in relation to some, conduct, but it is going to be an evolutionary rather than a revolutionary approach”.
