Account Manager in Health Security
FIPRA is looking for an Account Manager with experience and interest in working in health, security and defense policy to join our growing team in Brussels. Our team brings over 20 years’ expertise advising clients on EU and EEA/UK political and public affairs, facilitating dialogue and input to achieve impactful outcomes.
As an Account Manager you will have the opportunity to work in dynamic sectors facing evolving challenges and opportunities. Your contribution will help clients navigate the intersection of policy and industry, driving positive change and innovation across multiple fields.
The position demands expertise and a strong understanding of EU legislative and regulatory processes as well as awareness of ongoing discussions in Europe and NATO on health security and the impact on businesses. Ideal candidates will be familiar with and have established networks with relevant stakeholders, key organizations, and authorities within the European Commission, EU & NATO Member States, and the European Parliament.
You will report to and be mentored by a Senior Lead, working closely with colleagues and our Special Advisors to deliver high-quality outcomes. In this role, you will assist the practice lead and manage client needs and cases daily, supported by a collaborative and expert team.
Roles and responsibilities
As an Account Manager, you will work across a diverse range of issues, including health security and preparedness, cross-border health threats, access to critical medicines, joint procurement, digital health and cybersecurity, One Health, global health, and infectious diseases. You will:
- Play a key role in managing client relationships and delivering high quality services in-line with client needs;
- Play a vital role in conceptualising and driving forward advocacy campaigns to address pressing policy issues and deliver concrete policy change;
- Provide clients with strategic and timely intelligence – by using the FIPRA network and your own network – as well as concrete recommendations for action;
- Support the development and implementation of initiatives in health, security and defence;
- Develop clear and concise policy analyses as well as precise and persuasive policy materials;
- Contribute to new business development – including identifying opportunities, developing creative and sustainable strategies that align public and private interests and pitching to potential clients;
- Manage project teams and support and develop junior team members.
Skills and experience
- At least 5 years’ relevant experience from a public affairs consultancy, EU institution, trade association, in-house public affairs team or NGO;
- Deep knowledge of EU affairs and politics as well as healthcare policies;
- Proven track record in building and driving stakeholder campaigns;
- Ability to work autonomously across projects and competing deadlines while also being a team player, supporting and managing team members deliver high-quality work;
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure high level of accuracy;
- Outstanding communication, writing and presentation skills;
- Adept networker with strong contacts in the healthcare community that can be leveraged to support client and business development;
- Excellent organisational and project management skills to drive forward multi-stakeholder initiatives with proven proactivity, flexibility, and a ‘can do’ attitude.
