Founded in 1997 by Carmen Mateo, the firm is a family-owned business now led by its second generation, Pepe and Jorge Fernández-Rúa, maintaining the core principles and long termed vision that have defined the company since its inception.

Headquartered in Madrid, Cariotipo has established itself as a trusted partner for multinational companies, trade associations and non-profit organizations. Our core function is to support clients in developing and implementing high-impact government relations and public affairs strategies, specializing in providing in-depth regulatory and policy risk analysis within the Spanish landscape.

Our multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals operates across the main sectors of the economy, with a particularly strong leadership position in Healthcare Food and Beverages and Sustainability. We pride ourselves on building long-lasting relationships based on a result-oriented methodology and a deep understanding of how policy is made and who the key decision-makers think.

At the heart of Cariotipo are our unwavering values of rigor, transparency, and independence. We operate with total autonomy from any political group adhering to the highest ethical standards and professional integrity to ensure our clients’ interests are effectively and ethically represented.

At Cariotipo, we have led the transformation of lobbying in Spain into a highly sophisticated discipline. With nearly three decades of experience, we view our work not merely as an exercise in influence, but as an integral part of democratic architecture—a role whose legitimacy is rooted in rigor, sustained by transparency, and driven to excellence through independence
