Christof joined FIPRA as a Special Advisor on Transport, Green, and Digital Transition. Christof brings over 30 years of experience, 16 of which as the Head of Volkswagen Group’s EU Representation in Brussels, where he shaped the company’s regulatory and public affairs strategies. His work focused on advancing the Green Transition in automotive, particularly on regulatory and environmental affairs, trade, and the data economy.
During his time at Volkswagen, Christof built a reputation for fostering constructive dialogue and creating successful alliances with public, governmental, and industry stakeholders. His experience and network coupled with his global perspective, enables him to help businesses navigate the complexities of international markets, regulatory environments, and cross-border partnerships.
An experienced negotiator and moderator, Christof has held numerous leadership roles in trade associations such as ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association), as Chairman of the Economic Council in Brussels, and Vice-President of the European Movement International.
He joined Volkswagen in 1999 and held various positions in the company’s offices in Berlin and Brussels. Prior to this, Christof held leadership roles at Deutsche Telekom, the Federation of German Industry (BDI), and the Office of German Industry and Trade in Washington, D.C. He also led Burson-Marsteller’s Government Relations team in Bonn and Berlin.
Christof holds a law degree from the University of Hamburg, where he also worked as a Research Assistant in Commercial and Trade Law.
