Dr. Alexandra Walmsley joined FIPRA in 2020. She has over 25 years of experience in the nuclear and defence sectors.
She started her own consultancy, ASC Ltd, in 2004. She is also the UK boss of GEL, the largest independent nuclear laboratory in the USA. In 2019, Alex was appointed a Senior Advisor to Newton Europe, which works across security, nuclear and infrastructure programmes. Before moving into consultancy, Dr. Walmsley was the original Defence Analyst at the Centre for European Reform.
She is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an Associate Fellow of RUSI. She is a frequent commentator on security issues in the international media and has written a book on Lithuanian history. Dr. Walmsley earned her PhD and MA degrees in history from St Andrews University in Scotland.
In addition to her native English, Dr. Walmsley speaks German and basic Lithuanian – as well as a smattering of other European languages.
