Peter joined FIPRA in September 2016 as Special Advisor for International Trade after six years as the US Chamber of Commerce’s Senior Representative in Europe and its Vice President for Europe, based in Brussels.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Peter was a US diplomat, working extensively on transatlantic economic policy issues, including in the US Mission to the European Union from 1992-96 and 2007-2010; as Director of the State Department’s Office of EU Affairs (2004-07); and as the Counselor and then Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs in the US Embassy to the UK in London (1997-2001). Peter also served as Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Economic Affairs (2001-2003), as Director for Investment Affairs at the Office of the US Trade Representative (1990-92), and as Legislative Assistant for Economic Policy and Foreign Affairs with Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ).

Peter, who grew up in Taiwan, received his Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1976 and his Master of International Affairs from Columbia University in 1978. He speaks English, German, French and Chinese.
