Robert has been with FIPRA since 2016, previously serving as Chairman for 5 years and now serving as Senior Strategist to clients and FIPRA Management. Robert is also a non-executive director at Médisanté Group AG, a Swiss medtech startup.
Robert previously served 37 years as a UK and then EU Commission official. He was a trade negotiator for 20 years, and then European Commission Director General for Health, Food and Consumers and Director General for digital research, telecomms and the Internet.
British by birth, French by marriage, Robert was educated at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe and Magdalen College, Oxford, as well as at the French Ecole Nationale d’Administration, now INSP.
Robert is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and holds an Honorary Doctorate of the University of Edinburgh. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Oxford University Department of Politics and International Relations and at the Cambridge University Centre for Science and Policy. Publications include ‘Opportunity Now: Europe’s Mission to Innovate’ (2016), ‘An ethical framework for a good AI society’ (2018) and ‘On good AI governance’ (2019).
